Remarks

Thomson was at Georgian Bay the months of June and July in 1914; he left for Algonquin Park in early August so this sketch, which he painted in Algonquin Park in August/September as we know from the kind of wood panel he used, is incorrectly titled. It should be titled Summer, Algonquin Park.

Malcolm MacDonald was the United Kingdom High Commissioner in Canada from 1941 to 1946. He also owned Mississagi, 1912 (1912.29) and Twilight Woods, Fall 1916 (1916.130)
